Best T-Bone

Greg Jacobs

Drafted as a pitcher out of the Cal State Fullerton baseball factory, Greg Jacobs never rose above Class-A ball. So in 2002, he joined an independent-league team and picked up an outfielder's glove and a bat. The results were impressive: Jacobs ended up leading the league in batting average and extra-base hits. In his second year as a T-Bone, Jacobs continued to excel at the plate. He finished among the league leaders in home runs and on-base percentage; he also drove in a run in the Northern League All-Star Game played at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Jacobs can mash, and he goes hard in the outfield, too. "He plays every game like it's going to be his last," T-Bones announcer Loren Foxx says.
