It might have been easy to overlook the work of Ari Fish at this year's 18th Street Fashion Show. Fish's designs were subtle up against the other designers' more obvious, seafaring creations that stepped in line with the show's theme, Summer at Sea. There were lots of bright colors, sailing rope, sea anemone stylings and swimsuits. And then Fish's models came down the runway, looking as if they'd just walked in from staging the battle scene from Macbeth. But the structured, military-like cuts of her jackets and pants are aptly fitting for a woman whose MySpace profile declares her mood as "knighted." We didn't name her one of this year's MasterMinds for nothing. Word is that 25-year-old Fish is being considered for a future season of Project Runway. You can say you saw her here first.
