Indy Film Showcases let moviegoers ask directors the sorts of questions that might otherwise haunt them after they leave the theater. The showcase is a monthly series presented by the Kansas City Jubilee, a group of locals who love the art of cinema. They generally show high-quality, low-budget films that haven't been distributed to theater chains, and they bring the director to town to talk about his or her work. Recent shows have included killer documentaries about hillbilly fishermen and grunged-out rock stars by Brad Beesley; a father-and-son-around-the-world travelogue by Chris and Richard Roe; and
Doe Boy, a touching personal narrative by Randy Redroad. And for those who harbor dreams of one day making the Great American Movie, these veterans are always willing to share tales about the struggle to get a vision up on the silver screen.
