The Stella Link began production on its debut disc,
Mystic Jaguar ... Attack!, in February 2003. The quartet continued to gig regularly, previewing the intricate instrumental passages and multilayered countermelodies that would make up the eagerly anticipated effort. After a July 2003 concert at the Replay Lounge, marked by shimmering guitars and spell-smashing drum blasts, the group assured fans that its record would appear in local stores by September. A year after that show, the album was still missing in action, and its production process had grown as abnormal as an 18-month pregnancy. But on July 17, 2004, The Stella Link gave birth to a beautiful baby.
Mystic Jaguar feels so meticulously crafted, so compellingly complex, it's a wonder it didn't take longer to create.
