Better Than Skittles

The government's increased emphasis on the importance of eating fruits and veggies reinforces one thing that raw foodies have known all along: Diversity on your plate is important. Expect a mouthwatering orientation to the art of making a delicious raw meal during Eat the Rainbow: Eating Color for Health 101, a hands-on workshop at the West Side vegan eatery Füd (813 West 17th Street, 816-785-3454) starting at 5 p.m. Hint: Raw-food preparation involves more than pulling a carrot out of the ground. Expect vegan chef Heidi VanPelt-Belle to also enlighten her students about the nutritional benefits of consuming produce of varying hues. This class is part of the events related to the KC Urban Farms & Gardens Tour. The $35 fee includes your meal. Pay at the door but register in advance at urbanfarmstourkc.com.
