Big Sky Blue Earth

A couple years ago, Paul Malinowski (ex-bassist for Shiner) and Sam Hoskins (ex-drummer for Elevator Division) spent a weekend in Champaign, Illinois, tracking three songs at Matt Talbot’s Great Western Record Recordings. Upon returning to Kansas, the duo put their project on hold while they developed their own Black Page studio – until a recent invitation to open for Riddle of Steel lit a fire under their collective asses. “In about two weeks we wrote a set and put together a band,” Malinowski says. “We’re just doing whatever feels good to entertain ourselves.” When pressed to describe Big Sky Blue Earth, Malinowski offers “King Crimson meets Killing Joke” – but a nearly completed demo will likely speak for itself.
