Located just off the University of Kansas campus inside the Oread hotel, the owners of the Bird Dog aren't shy about their love for canines: A black Lab named Samantha — the hotel owners’ favorite dog — is featured on the bar’s sign, and each table is named for a different canine family member inside the spacious bar, which leads to an outdoor seating area that's perfect for checking out who’s checking in at the hotel. In addition to a full menu, the Bird Dog also has a long list of beers and wines. Hotel guests and locals (including KU coaches and athletes) take advantage of the bar’s 11 HDTVs and plentiful drink specials.
