Bloody Funkadelic

Folks have been enjoying drugs and music together for centuries. But for Lawrence Bryant, aka DJ NME, that lifestyle got him into some trouble earlier this year, when he spent four months in prison for possession of 7 pounds of weed with intent to sell. Saturday, Bryant will have his first big gig since starting his life over — playing at what sounds like the most brutal Halloween party in town. Behold: Bloody Funkadelic at Korruption. Joining Bryant are SPL, Robot Death Squad, Sytrohs, J Fortune, Crave One, Random Assassin, DE, KRSP and FSTZ. When Bryant was released in April, he says he "kicked the gate open" and ran to a friend's car. They drove 100 miles per hour from Boonville, Missouri, back home to Kansas City. In just that car ride alone, he says, he "got high off a cup of coffee," "got carsick," and "got goosebumps" when he heard hip-hop again. Larry insists that he doesn't smoke or slang weed anymore, but playing music to the masses is one high that he isn't ready to kick just yet.
