Restaurant Details

Midtown’s little jewel box of a boîte seats just 43 diners, but that only adds to the exclusive cachet of this intimate dining room, where the perfection-driven husband-and-wife team of Colby and Megan Garrelts creates elegant cuisine. The food is excellent, and the service is extremely gracious, starting with a delicately arranged amuse-bouche at the beginning of the meal and ending with a presentation of loose tea as a finale. The dining room doesn’t stay open late, but the Garrelts expanded their territory a couple of years after opening, adding a lounge area where cocktails, appetizers and desserts are served until 1 a.m. — Charles Ferruzza

This restaurant was a disappointment. There is not enough variety on the menu and we thought there was more effort put into making the food look good than in making it taste good. Even the desserts were disappointing.

This one is difficult. In my pre-vegetarian days, I loved bluestem. Incredible food, great atmosphere, great service. Post-vegetarian, I was told "we'll make something amazing for you". They did...if a half a dozen pieces of baby veg neatly arranged on a plate is amazing. All of this for $30. Hmmm...prior to completing our 6 bites of food, we told our waiter we weren't sure that qualified as dinner. She apologized and brought us a small bowl of pasta. I thought it was such a nice gesture until we received our check. We had been charged an additional $20 for our pastas. WTF??? So...$50 each for a small plate of pasta and some baby veg. So...if you're a typical carnivore...great place. If you're vegetarian, my only suggestion is walk in backwards and bent over cause you're about to get it.
