The fifth restaurant in Richard and Theresa Ng’s ever-expanding restaurant empire (and their first venture north of the river), the Bo Lings at Zona Rosa is sleekly beautiful and full of light, thanks to huge windows and a spacious interior done primarily in soothing earth-tones. These days, Bo Lings focuses on regional Chinese recipes using fresh ingredients. (If patrons request old-fashioned fare such as egg foo yong or sweet-and-sour pork, the kitchen will try to make it.) We’ve discovered some deliciously offbeat innovations, including a crispy chicken in honey-mayonnaise sauce and a clay pot stuffed with seafood in an unexpectedly potent chili sauce. The Ngs have also incorporated other culinary cultures and now serve pad Thai and Singapore curry noodles. — Charles Ferruzza
