Question: What is Geeks Who Drink?
Answer: Beer-lovin' eggheads who host free trivia games at Irish pubs throughout our fine nation (established 1776). Based in Denver, Colorado (a state admitted to the union in 1876; state flower is the Rocky Mountain columbine), the Geeks drink and question patrons at Raglan Road (170 East 14th Street, 816-994-9700) on Wednesdays. The game includes eight rounds of eight questions, asked to teams of up to six people. The quiz master reads the questions aloud, and teams write down the answers and turn them in at the end of each round. Categories include "name that tune," sound bites, TV and current events. The quizzing begins at 8 p.m., and prizes vary; expect anything from free pints to cold, papery cash. Who knew that being a nerd could yield such results? (Theodor Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss,
alleged creator of the word "nerd" and first
author to use it in a book. Thank us later.)
