Breit’s Stein and Deli is the kind of neighborhood bar with a core group of regulars, people who have probably been drinking together since before the seven-year-old hangout even opened. They fill up tables with their card games. They scream along to Journey on the jukebox. And when their cups run dry, the bartender is already handing them a refill. It’s a relaxed hideout for locals, but even Strawberry Hill outsiders can cozy up to the tall bar, order a mind-blowingly cheap well drink, and revel in the boozy camaraderie. Also consider a shot of slivovitz, a dry plum brandy.
