Bustin' with Pride

It's Pride Week 2010 starting -- wait -- right now! Everybody flex your gay pride and hold that position for the next seven amazing days of celebration. At 9 a.m., the community gathers at Union Station before walking to the Liberty Memorial (100 West 26th Street) for a respectful military memorial at 9:30 that honors gay and lesbian troops. At 7 p.m., see Beyond Gay: The Politics of Pride, a documentary about the politics of gay-pride events around the globe. The screening is at Tivoli Cinemas (4050 Pennsylvania), and tickets cost $8.50 ($6.50 for seniors). At sundown, a candlelight vigil for the expansion of basic civil rights will be held at J.C. Nichols Fountain (47th Street and J.C. Nichols Parkway). Events continue throughout the week. For more information, see gaypridekc.com.
Mon., May 31, 9 a.m., 2010
