There are no cushy seats or tabs allowed at this Westport institution. Only cash is accepted and it's going to take years to get that smell out of the joint, but it's the price one pays for partaking in some of the cheapest beer and whiskey in the city. Raucous and generally unpredictable during the late night hours, Buzzard is much more relaxed in the afternoon when the sun filters in through the wrap-around patio and the good-natured bartenders are free to conversate. When the atmosphere gets a little thick with either desperation or depravity, there is plenty of room to move about. Everyone's got a story about Buzzard but screw it Westport wouldn't be the same without it.
