Café Trio, 4558 Main, 816-756-3227. Chris Youngers and Tai Nguyen took a gamble by moving their popular bistro from its cozy, casual midtown location to the new place on the Plaza, where its considerably larger -- with a terrific deck that looks down on Mill Creek Park -- and a lot more glamorous. The consensus is that Café Trio is much better served by its more upscale digs. Chef Leon Bahlmann has kept his interesting array of meat, seafood and pasta dishes intact, and the same goes for the prices. It was never an inexpensive place to dine. (Of the dozen or more dinner entrées, only five of them - mostly pasta - are priced less than $20, although Youngers and Nguyen continue to offer bread and a soup or salad as part of the dinner package.) But the dining room is a lot sexier. On weekend nights, it practically bubbles with joie de vivre when all the regulars come in for cocktails and crab cakes. — Charles Ferruzza
