Calcium Deposit

Dairy farmers Leroy and Barbara Shatto, of Osborn, Missouri, used to sell their milk to cooperatives. Tired of losing money, the Shattos took a chance and bought the equipment necessary to bottle their cows' efforts for direct sale. Now in its sixth year, the Shatto Milk Company is a beloved brand as well as a tourist attraction. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, the Shattos host the annual Family Day at the Farm. Visitors can tour the milking shed, sample products, play games, pet baby calves and even lay hands on udders. The event is free. See shattomilkcompany.com for directions and other details.
