Casablanca 70th anniversary event

When: Wed., March 21, 2 & 7 p.m. 2012
Price: $12.50
Jake Turpiano was born in 1989 — the year of Back to the Future Part II, Batman and When Harry Met Sally — but the 23-year-old doesn't go wild for DeLoreans, Batmobiles and lunchtime faked orgasms. No, 1942's Casablanca is more his style. "For its time, it was one of the greatest movies. And, quite honestly, it hasn't had a lot of competition since," says Turpiano, a member of the film crew at AMC BarryWoods 24. The World War II love story plays at seven area theaters including AMC BarryWoods 24 (8101 Roanridge Road, 816-505-9199) as part of the nationwide Casablanca 70th Anniversary Event, a partnership of NCM Fathom, Turner Classic Movies and Warner Bros. Aside from the feature, audiences are treated to a 15-minute behind-the-scenes look at the timeless classic. Each of two showtimes, at 2 or 7 p.m., is limited to 250 people. Tickets cost $12.50. For a full list of theaters showing the film, see fathomevents.com.
