Oh, those crazy Chomp Womp kids with their cartoon drawings, cassette mixtapes and shoegazey sounds. Lawrence's Tennessee Street music collective is bringing the show to the West Bottoms for the Chomp Womp Soda Fest. Beginning at 8:30 p.m. Friday, 14 bands will each play 20-minute sets that will alternate on two stages in the Pistol Social Club and the Foundation Room. Check out Chomp Womp's in-house acts Rooftop Vigilantes and Boo and Boo Too; Columbia, Missouri's Burger Kingdom and Nonreturner; local garage upstarts Bleachbloodz and Wrong Crowd; and Lawrence's bluegrass boot-knockers the Calamity Cubes, among others. Besides the obvious gigantic merch table, check out the free soda, free cake and "free freedom," as promised by the fliers. Summer never had such a sprightly welcome.
