Classic Ideas

Take heed, KC fashionistas. The vintage-minded, design-obsessed Amy Barickman is in town (she spoke at the Plaza Library at 6:30 p.m. Thursday), and she has brought her crafty ideas with her. The founder of Indygo Junction (a company dedicated to the promotion, publishing and marketing of contemporary home crafts, sewing and pattern designs) also has written her own throwback-inspired book — Amy Barickman's Vintage Notions: An Inspirational Guide to Needlework, Cooking, Sewing, Fashion and Fun. She sells and signs her book at TOMBOY Design Studio (1817 McGee). The Fashion Group International event includes a vintage fashion sale featuring designer clothing of the '50s, '60s and '70s. Also vintage? The clothing prices. Items start at $5, and nothing sells for more than $20. It has never been easier to get your Jackie O- or Laugh-In-inspired outfit lined up for fall.— Lorna Perry
