One of the great things about this newfangled Internet era is that you no longer have to wait a year between album releases to hear a band's new jams. Continents bandleader Jim Button recently posted a new single on his MySpace and Facebook pages called "A Simple Kind" that's quite simply the best song the former Button Band frontman has ever written. Its buoyant melody has a sniff of the Kinks mixed with the avant-guitar noodlings of Dirty Projectors. More important, however, is that it sounds like the follow-through on the promise that came with Continents' 2009 release, Land of Plenty. With the band's four-piece lineup now stabilized, expect to hear a lot more from Continents in 2010.
