Coolness is Timeless

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, then it's New Year's — so swing into 2011 with Dean Martin: Memories Are Made of This at the Chestnut Fine Arts Theater (234 North Chestnut in Olathe). Featuring tunes like "Send Me the Pillow You Dream On" and "Everybody Loves Somebody," this suitable-for-all show is a tribute to Martin's Rat Pack days of the swinging '60s, when the style was crooning, the jokes were cool, and the drink was the martini. Perry White directs the musical and plays the King of Cool, with the ensemble and band rounded out by Dalene White, Steve Richter, Bill Turner, Brad Zimmerman and Adam Dean. The nostalgia trip starts at 3 and 8 p.m., with additional performances at 2, 5:30 and 9 p.m. Friday. Tickets cost $20. See chestnutfinearts.com or call 913-764-2121 or for more information.
