Country Stampede

Thursday, June 24, through Sunday, June 27, at Tuttle Creek State Park.

Looking to avoid the Independence Day crush and get out of town a week early? Try the Country Stampede. Fans of twangy music and the outdoor life will want to make the trek to Manhattan this weekend to partake in the four-day hoedown. From the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's patented progressive bluegrass to pop-country hottie Terri Clark, the Stampede aims to serve every imaginable country flavor. Highlights include superstar duo Brooks & Dunn, whose energetic live shows still pack a wallop and a smorgasbord of hits, and the Charlie Daniels Band, which has become a popular favorite with the warmonger set. Helping close out the weekend is an appearance by the Steve Miller Band, whose wild, mountain-honey rock fits in perfectly with neocountry's wholesale adoption of '70s sounds.
