The scuffed appearance and the assortment of barflies and rickety tables at Dave's are best summed up in two words: dive galore. Not that the atmosphere lacks verve; scores of scenesters headed for Westport and veteran regulars flock here for the cheap draws, the pool table and the rough but friendly vibe. The jukebox here is practically an icon all by itself -- not only for its fine selection but also for "Jukebox Roulette" every Thursday night, in which the bartender and walking music encyclopedia John Yuelkenbeck selects a song at random and posts to the jukebox a few mysterious clues to the tune's identity. Patrons are encouraged to make guesses -- and if someone plays the song, everyone in the house gets a free drink.
