What's the difference between
Dead Girl Derby and the Kansas City Roller Warriors? DGD plays by Modern Athletic Derby Endeavor rules, while the Roller Warriors go by Women's Flat-Track Derby Association rules. "Our game is a bit faster, and we hit harder," says Leah Dixon, DGD's PR manager. Today's double-header matchup features the Deadly Sirens versus the Shotgun Sheilas and the Royal Pains versus the Lovely Lethals in the Mutiny Match-Up: Battle for Booty. The game gets rolling at 6 p.m. at River Roll Skate Center (4720 Northwest Gateway, 816-587-0131). Tickets cost $14 at the door; or purchase them online at
brownpapertickets.com/event/217757. "The league is comprised of over 80 members, all volunteers who show up for the love of derby," Dixon says. Think this might be you? DGD needs skaters and refs. See
