Dining Deceleration

Because the virtues of a healthy diet sometimes are at odds with modern perceptions of convenience and flavor, Slow Food KC works to educate people about the effects of fast-food culture on human health, environmental sustainability, fair trade and the art of food preparation. Tap a toe to the beat of food education tonight at the Louisburg Cider Mill grounds (14730 Kansas Highway 68, Louisburg, 800-748-7765). Musician Adrienne Young will perform her blend of folk, bluegrass, country and pop to bring awareness (and a portion of the evening's proceeds) to Slow Food KC. Admission costs $10; kids 10 and younger get in free. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., and music starts at 6:30 p.m. For more information, see Louisburgcider mill.com. Louisburgcidermill.com
