All Things Dirty and Delicious (self-released)

Emma Feel's debut album, All Things Dirty And Delicious, does more than bring images of sex and chocolate to mind. Successfully tapping into several genres all at once, this Overland Park sextet manages to incorporate soul-driven funk, blues and punchy garage glam rock. The first track, "Train," opens with a guitar-and-drum chooga-chooga and builds to a jam-worthy funk-mesh of instruments, complete with keyboards and harmonica. Other songs, such as "Soulfrustrated," are heavier and slower, with a tad more grit. Noticeable throughout the album, and lifting it from sounding too much like goofy, hippie funk, is not only the tightness of the songs but also singer Davin Watne — he's part Mick Jagger with a smear of Rick Sims and sophistication in spades.
