Find Your Marbles

In Home Alone, Macaulay Culkin foiled two intruders with the aid of marbles and introduced a new generation to the antiquated toy in the process. Though injuring thieves is one way to use them, you can also employ marbles to help break a Guinness world record. Today, the Toy and Miniature Museum of Kansas City (5235 Oak) invites players to see its collection of more than a million marbles and play in what organizers hope will be the biggest marble tournament ever. At least 1,000 players are needed to break the record. Museum tours begin at 10 a.m., with marble lessons starting at 11 a.m. and continuing until the tournament begins at 3 p.m. at the UMKC Swinney Recreational Center (5100 Rockhill). For more information about the free event, call 816-333-9328 or see toyandminiaturemuseum.com.
