Fitz’s Blarney Stone, an Irish-themed neighborhood institution, is one of the oldest bars in the city — one that opens at 9 a.m. and serves some of the cheapest drinks in midtown. Brightly lighted on the inside, it’s a no-frills corner bar that entertains a gentle crowd of thespians, young Westport service-industry workers, and old friends. It’s a good hiding place to hole up all day long — or at least for happy hour, which lasts from opening until 6 p.m.
