Free Movies, Cheap Drinks

Every Monday, Kansas City's most comfortable rock bar turns into a movie theater. Those plush curtains at Crosstown Station (1522 McGee, 816-471-1522) pull back to reveal a giant screen during Movie Madness, from 4:30 p.m. to close. Enjoy happy-hour specials ($2.25 wells, $2 domestics and $3 import draws) and complimentary popcorn. "It's a laid-back time," says bartender Andy Fisher. Due to royalty concerns, he can't announce in advance what movies he'll play. But based on the kinds of things Fisher has picked recently — Knocked Up, Evil Dead 2, Raising Arizona and The Big Lebowski — comedy fans shouldn't be disappointed. Admission is free.
