Frolic Hard

It's only a matter of time until the beer industry does to Easter what it has already done to Mardi Gras, Halloween and St. Patrick's Day: the distribution of branded Easter beads and pastel-colored Bud Light Lime bottles to bars while generally encouraging a sexxxy, drunken Carnival atmosphere during what's supposed to be a celebration of bunnies and the Messiah's resurrection. Before you start fantasizing about doing Cadbury Creme Egg body shots from the navel of a sorority girl, recapture the spirit of innocence by taking your kids (or someone else's) to the 14th annual Hyde Park Easter Frolic and Egg Hunt at 38th Street and Gillham. The afternoon's events include pony rides, photos with the Great Bunny himself, and a hunt for plastic eggs filled with candy. Activity booths and organized games offer temporary distraction from the emptiness of a pleasure-seeking lifestyle fostered by the commercial Easter industry, and remind you of a time before you'd ever been handed a flashing electronic bunny pendant by a Jäger girl at a bar. The sugarcoated and chocolate-stained fun goes from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
