Finding the city of Platte Woods can be tricky because it occupies less than 0.4 square mile of land. Locating the citys only drinking establishment, Gators VIII, can be even more difficult because its tucked away in a strip mall thats perpendicular to the street. However, this fairly large bar and grill draws decent crowds during the daylight hours mainly local commuters who detour off Interstate 29 for cold beer, huge pork-tenderloin sandwiches and plenty of nearby ashtrays. Slightly depressing and rather devoid of young people, but completely nonjudgmental, Gators VIII is an appropriate place to escape life and drink away the day while smoking and playing shuffleboard.
