Get In the Moment

Nineteen alumni from the Kansas City Art Institute will be in their element for the In the Moment exhibit and reception from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Carter Art Center (3201 Southwest Trafficway, 816-604-4278). The exhibit, which celebrates KCAI's 125th anniversary, is a generation-spanning, genre-hopping affair, bringing together artists whose concepts cover painting, drawing, digital media, photography, sculpture, installations, performance, printmaking and more. Independent curator Heather Lustfeldt chose the artists to represent just a hint of the eclectic work and successes KCAI alumni have made in the art world. The exhibit includes graduates from 1988 to 2008 and promises to be a very current and exciting show. In the Moment continues through December 4 during regular Carter Art Center hours, 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
