Kansas City sports fans must make a choice: It's opening day for two of the town's more successful franchises — the Kansas City Wizards and Kansas City Roller Warriors. The Wizards face D.C. United for a 7:30 p.m. soccer match at the CommunityAmerica Ballpark (1800 Village West Parkway, 913-387-3400). To recap, the local team secured the MLS Cup in 2000 and earned a runner-up spot in 2004, and it's probably due for another top placement. For hard-hitting action with fewer balls, Kansas City's roller-derby squad takes to the rink at Municipal Auditorium (301 West 13th Street, 816-513-5000) at 7 p.m. Team founders Dirty Britches and Anna Conda led the Warriors to a 2007 national championship in the Women's Flat Track Derby Association and kept a second-place ranking for their region last year. Roller-derby tickets start at $13 in advance or $16 at the door for adults and $6 in advance or $8 at the door for children; soccer prices begin at $15. Choose wisely.
