Goldenboy

Right Kind of Wrong (Fast Music/Coldfront)

Oh, no. Please, no. Not another capable yet unimaginative, eager-beaver pop-punk (boy) band with visions of heavy MTV rotation dancing in their heads. Oh, yes -- and this one's called Goldenboy, and its members determined to sound as much as possible like a slick, sixth-rate Green Day while hanging out their girl troubles and trying to hang onto their precious, precious individuality as they're slowly pulled into adulthood. From "The Challenge" to "When Summer Turns to Fall," it's a soda-commercial soundtrack. Goldenboy's professed crush on teen popper-turned-punkess Pink (detailed on "Pink" and the creepy fake messages singer Toke pretends to leave on her machine) is the most interesting thing about this group.
