Half-Pint Science

The main challenge confronting the parents and teachers of freshly-minted children is filling up their empty little noggins with actual knowledge, before their skull bones knit together over their fontanels, forever locking away everything they will ever know. Science City at Union Station offers Half-Pint Science, a fun weekly program that will fill your child's head with hard, empirical science rather than the superstitious voodoo magic they'll otherwise learn out on the mean streets. For kids 3 to 7 years old, the program includes art projects, learning about the five senses, astronomy and how to ignite hairspray with a lighter. JUST KIDDING. Although it's very sciencey, flames will not be hurled at Half-Pint Science.
Thursdays, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., 2008
