Restaurant Details

Teppan-yaki cooking, with Asian chefs doing choreographed slicing, dicing, grilling and much flipping of shrimp, is a kind of dinner theater. And tucked into the back of Town Center Plaza, with a sleek black granite counter and stylish blue-green pottery, Han Shin is Kansas City’s showcase spot for the flashy pans. The menu — grilled vegetables and such distinctly American fare as beef and chicken — isn’t any different from competing Japanese steakhouses, but the place is prettier and prices are steeper. — Charles Ferruzza
