Happy-Hour Hit list: Moscow Mule

The long, storied history of the Moscow Mule begins in 1941, when an East Coast liquor distributor and a West Coast bar owner came together and concocted this cocktail of vodka, ginger beer and lime juice served over ice in copper mugs. Give this smooth, summery drink a whirl at one of these fine establishments.• City Tavern (101 West 22nd Street, 816-421-3696). The Pitch's Best of 2005 winner for Best Drink, the Moscow Mule at this dark, cool bar is $7 and made with Stoli, all day and night.• One80 (435 Westport Road, 816-389-4180). In the middle of Westport, a Mule costs $6 and goes well with a $6 flatbread pizza during happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m.• M&S Grill (4646 J.C. Nichols Parkway, 816-531-7799). On the east edge of the Plaza, a Mule goes for $9.25. The high price can be offset with a selection from the super-cheap happy-hour menu ($1.95-$4.95) from 4 to 6 p.m.
