Heal Thyself

Western medicine takes a pretty prescription-happy approach to health care. The centuries-old practice of holistic healing, on the other hand, would have you trade those purple pills and sleep meds for alternative treatments such as acupuncture, nutrition counseling or horticultural therapy. And in an era of soaring medical costs, ever-weirder allergies and unpredictable viruses, holistic care is a practice on the rise. The expert and layperson alike can explore holistic options today during the Communiversity Wholistic Health Fair in Pierson Auditorium of University Center (5100 Rockhill Road) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The free expo includes more than 60 exhibitors and 22 workshops; area health practitioners will be on hand to share their techniques and thoughts from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Let the healing begin.
