The “JAD” on the sign outside of Helen's on Armour Road may stand for “Just Another Dive,” but it's the only dive we know of that serves food until 2 a.m. A popular after-work spot for Cerner employees and blue-collar folks north of the river, Helen's also attracts plenty of people who need one more drink between the casino and home. The mostly white customers seem to keep to themselves and don't seem to mind the low ceilings and stained carpet. Questionable bathrooms, a mediocre jukebox and rather inattentive service reinforce Helen’s dive status, but it's hard to argue with cheap pitchers and fresh pizza after midnight.
