Hella

Sunday, June 13, at the Jackpot Saloon.

Whenever I run into people who say "hella," I've always had an itch to sock them in the jaw with a pipe wrench. You know the people. Everything is hella cool. They always get hella drunk and talk hella shit. Then they tell you about the guy who was hella mad and how he hit them hella hard in the jaw with a pipe wrench. But Hella is different. I have no desire to go all Home Depot on Hella's ass. Primarily that's because I'm spending all my time figuring out what the hell ... uh ... is going on when the Sacramento duo takes the stage. These boys pack a lot of sonic freak-outs into their randy little repertoire. One might even say they make hella noise. That the band's spaced-out symphony is hella cacophonous. That through all the chaotic blither-blather, Hella is somehow still hella good. I await your pipe wrench with hella anticipation.
