Hip-Hop Is Undead

KC artist and designer Phil "Sike Style" Shafer curates Hip-Hop Is Undead, a one-night visual-arts tribute to fallen rap stars Tupac Shakur, the Notorious B.I.G. and Big Pun. The event combines street-art murals by Shafer, Jeremy Madl, Luke Rocha and others with music from DJ Ataxic and a performance by the Tiger Style B-boy Crew, and it also includes opportunities for public participation — light a candle or come dressed as your favorite dearly departed rapper for this Dia de los Muertos-style celebration. The party starts at 6 p.m. at La Esquina (1000 West 25th Street, 816-221-5115). For more information, see charlottestreet.org.

Fri., Nov. 5, 6-10 p.m., 2010
