Follow the music out of town.

Hit the Road

Follow the music out of town.

Despite its brutal winters, Minneapolis is the perfect destination for a three-day weekend. The drive is worth it for its music scene alone, which has nurtured the likes of Atmosphere, the Replacements and yes, Prince. If you get a chance, check out one of the frequent midnight showings of Purple Rain, an experience similar to an art-house screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. There are plenty of options for live music this weekend, including Snow Patrol playing at the legendary First Avenue and Les Claypool at Quest. If you're a big spender, head over to St. Paul for Bruce Springsteen's Seeger Sessions tour. Or blend in with the natives with a grape ape, the customary drink made from vodka and the locally bottled Buddy's grape soda. Uff-dah, that's good.
