Major League Lunch
We'll have a Royal with cheese.
Held a month before the Royals' first spring training game, the 13th Annual Baseball Forecast Luncheon marks the unofficial start to the season at noon Thursday at the Marriott Muehlebach Tower (200 West 12th Street). Last year, owner David Glass spoke optimistically about newly obtained former-MVP Juan Gonzalez, fledgling superstar Carlos Beltran and rotation anchor Brian Anderson. Sunk by injuries and poor performance, the team tanked. This year's luncheon honors 2004's Pitcher of the Year and Player of the Year award winners Zack Greinke and David DeJesus. If hurler Runelvys Hernandez heals his broken wing and freshly acquired veteran Jose Lima provides a spark with his live-wire personality, the team just might contend.
