How Much IsToo Much?

It's fair to say that the expansion of presidential powers in the post-9/11 political environment has exceeded the intentions of the Constitution's framers. In a recent interview on the Web site of Guardian America, Sen. Hillary Clinton said, "There were a lot of actions which [the Bush administration] took that were clearly beyond any power the Congress would have granted or that in my view that was inherent in the Constitution."At 6:30 tonight, journalist Bill Moyers, host of PBS' Bill Moyers' Journal, addresses the power of the executive branch in a discussion at Unity Temple on the Plaza (707 West 47th Street, 816-561-4466), sponsored by the Truman Presidential Museum and Library. Moyers joins a panel that includes NBC News presidential historian Michael Beschloss, author of The Crisis Years: Kennedy and Khrushchev, 1960-1963, and The Presidents. Admission costs $15; for tickets, call 816-235-6222. For more information, see programs.htm" trumanlibrary.org/programs.htm.
