Improv Marathon

There's always the annual Bloomsday, last weekend's through-the-night celebration of the brick-thick and glorious puzzle Ulysses, but this year offers fans of wild, brainy, reference-dense all-nighters a second option: This Lemonade Tastes Funny, a full 24-hour cycle of seat-of-the-pants comedy at the Westport Coffee House, by Kansas City's best improv comics and benefiting Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, which raises money to fight children's cancers. The marathon begins at 9 p.m. with sets from Loaded Dice, Pretty.Funny and Dictionary Soup. Kill the DJ, Sketchy Thoughts and Spite take over at 11:30 p.m., and then it's on and on until the break of dawn — and well beyond. For $20, you get to see two to three troupes; die-hards can drop in and out of the "ImprovJAM" from 3:15 to 8 a.m. for $5. Saturday's highlights include ComedyCity and Stitch Tactics at 2:30 p.m., Babel Fish and Omega Directive at 4:45 p.m., and the big wrap-up from 7 to 9 p.m. featuring the Trip Fives, ImprovAbilities, Loaded Dice (again), and the promising "Shakespeare Skewered Finale." Get an all-access pass for $100. For more information, see kcloadeddice.com.
Fri., June 19, 9 p.m.; Sat., June 20, 9 p.m., 2009
