Once upon a time, Kansas City had a dozen or more delicatessens, but now this Texas-based chain of counter-service restaurants is as close to the traditional Jewish-American deli as one gets in the Kansas suburbs. The place is bustling with families during lunch and dinner hours, when youngsters can eat for a buck. The adult menu is reasonably priced, too, with most of the old-fashioned grilled sandwiches and hefty subs selling for less than six bucks. Desserts look and taste like they were wrapped directly from an assembly line, but theyre tasty and cheap, so why kvetch? — Charles Ferruzza
