Johnny’s Tavern — the Lawrence original — has crossed the state line and set up its eighth location, in downtown Kansas City’s Power & Light District. Still serving its famous burgers and New York-style pizza, Johnny’s has become the flagship sports bar on the block. The largely male lunch crowd diversifies slightly once happy hour rolls around, but the true focus remains on the 50 flat-screen HDTVs inside and four more on the heated smoking patio in back. Though it’s much more casual than its P&L counterparts, this Johnny's has higher drink prices than its Kansas franchises.
