King of Comics

Few indie-comic creators reach iconic status, especially in a market dominated by tights, fights and commercial art. Fortunately for fans, cartoonist, musician and author John Porcellino is hitting the road rock-and-roll style to promote his two decades masterminding King-Cat Comics. Brush up on comic-book history and get some art perspective tonight as Porcellino visits the Wonder Fair Art Gallery (803 Massachusetts in Lawrence, in the basement of the Casbah). Porcellino will present a slide show, talk with fans and sign his latest collected work, Map of My Heart. Musical guest Patrick Porter will also be on hand performing his original acoustic tunes. The all-ages exhibit is open today from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, see wonderfair.com or call 785-393-8525.
