Kings of Convenience

Wednesday, March 16, at the Bottleneck.

Good evening, Kansas! Are you ready for star time? (Kansas roars. ) Are you ready to sulk? To get your icy folk on? To nod politely when you think the drums would hit (if the band weren't too sensitive to bring drums)? To peer longingly through your fancy black glasses at grad-school hotties whom you find culturally akin to you but whom you're too delicate to actually approach? (Kansas roars. ) Then allow me to introduce the young men responsible for such lachrymose classics as "Homesick" (roar!), "Failure" (roar!) and "I Don't Know What I Can Save You From"! (English major on balcony bursts into flame. ) Here they are, ladies and gentlemen, the No. 1 soul-gazing acoustic duo, the band for whom it's Norway or the highway, the godfathers of glum, the earls of ennui, the haaardest working men in fragility -- the Kings of Convenience! (Kansas cheers, enjoys the show, is home by midnight, alone, with a warm glass of milk and much to blog about. )
