As if the certainty of eternal salvation weren't reward enough, Billboard's Top Gospel Artist of 2002 Kirk Franklin keeps racking up awards and nominations on the strength of last year's The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin. Last week, he scored eight nominations for the Gospel Music Association's Dove Awards, no small feat even if some of those nominations are in the same category. However, it's not as if Franklin can't afford to share the wealth; on January 11, he won five awards at the eighteenth annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards, including song and music-video honors for Rebirth's "Hosanna." These trophies didn't provide that song's original inspiration, but they're probably enough to make him say it one more time.
